Technical Project Manager

Reports to: Director of Software Development

Direct Reports: Software Engineers as assigned to projects

 

Location: Pittsburgh Office

General Purpose of Job:  The Technical Project Manager directs the day to day activities of a team of software developers and provides guidance and hands on support to further the analysis, construction and maintenance of one or more of TeleTracking’s proprietary commercial software solutions and product lines.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and guides daily software development activities and acts as a hands on delivery leader
  • Develops project plans and scope including time estimates based on functional requirements and monitors and supervises the assigned team of technical professionals
  • Coordinates the evolution of technical designs and code components to support detailed specifications and functional/non-functional requirements
  • Participates directly with various staff in the creation of end to end architecture, technical designs and code components for enterprise-scalable applications
  • Ensures development of reusable code design, leverages application architecture / framework capabilities and functionality
  • Ensures that assigned team follows coding standards are being followed and that code reviews are performed
  • Ensure test cases are being written and executed and drive testing automation for assigned areas.
  • Works with other teams to coordinate deliverables
  • Identifies potential issues and risks and solves technical hurdles
  • Formulates options to mitigate issues and risks
  • Mentors team members and supports professional development plans
  • Conducts performance evaluation and provides feedback to team members
  • Prepares and provides verbal and written status reports as necessary required
  • Performs other duties as necessary or as assigned

 

Basic Qualifications: Education, Experience and Skills:

Education: BS/BA in computer information technology, computer science, management systems, management or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Three or more years of experience in developing commercial software solutions for  large enterprise applications and with corresponding SDLC concepts
  • Three or more years experience leading developers in the development of software products
  • Three or more years experience in object oriented design and programming, web based business application design and development and with hands-on ASP.NET/SQL Server development experience.
  • Must have .NET architecture / technical design experience
  • Must have experience recruiting, managing and evaluating software engineers

Skills:

  • Technical project management skills
  • Dot Net 2.0 c# skills with a focus on object oriented techniques
  • SQL Server 2000 or 2005 skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft based architectures
  • Strong ability to translate requirement specifications and/or user requirements into a formal design document.
  • Demonstrated ability to estimate coding cycles and work in a team based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, identify issues, and provide recommendations. 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with end users to transform requests into robust solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Normal office conditions; must work in Pittsburgh office, may travel occasionally
