Director Software Development

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Development
DIRECT REPORTS: Technical Project Managers / Software Engineers
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Director of Software Development provides tactical direction and overall day-to-day management to multiple technical project (development) teams in support of the creation and on-going maintenance of Teletracking’s proprietary commercial software solutions and product lines. This position will direct the daily activities of technical project managers, technical architects, software engineers and build/configuration managers and includes other duties related to product development.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the day to day activities of Technical Project Managers and Team Leads.
- Manages the day to day activities of individual developers as needed.
- Leads the .NET, client/server (legacy) and reporting services software engineering teams in working effectively and efficiently to meet project goals.
- Leads the development and deployment of software application projects according to product roadmaps.
- Facilitates the creation of reliable project schedules and resource requirement projections.
- Coordinates the evolution of technical designs and code components to support detailed specifications and functional/non-functional requirements.
- Participates in the creation of end to end architecture, technical designs, code components and coding standards for enterprise-scaleable web applications.
- Insures reusable code design, leverages application architecture/framework capabilities and functionality.
- Solves technical hurdles as they occur.
- Facilitates and directly participates in periodic code reviews as needed to insure high quality efficient, maintainable deliverables.
- Facilitates end-to-end unit and integration testing.
- Supervises the application build/configuration process.
- Facilitates technical staff recruiting and performance evaluations.
- Facilitates problem resolution of level III issues from escalation and triage to conclusion.
- Participates in budget planning and projections.
- Identifies potential issues and risks as well as technical/non-technical mitigation strategies.
- Mentors team members supports professional development plans.
- Provides status reports as required.

1. Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Ten or more years of experience in software development and project management
3. Three or more years experience leading developers in the development of software products
4. Three or more years experience in object oriented design and programming, web based business application design and development
5. Must have hands-on ASP.NET/SQL Server development experience.
6. Must have .NET architecture / technical design experience.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
