Software Engineer II

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Software Engineer II develops and maintains commercial computer software solutions for the patient flow (healthcare) market.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops design documents, functional specifications and application prototypes as needed.
2. Effectively design, code and troubleshoot software systems using existing architectures and patterns by following industry best practices and company design standards.
3. Conducts unit level testing of new and existing software applications.
4. Develops in Visual Basic 5/6, C#, ASP.NET, Python and T-SQL.
5. Participates in planning, estimation and scheduling activities.
6. Participates in design reviews, code reviews, test plan reviews and documentation reviews.
7. Performs issue triage and troubleshooting activities.
8. Performs other duties as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: BS/BA in computer information technology, computer science, management systems or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have 3 or more years experience developing commercial software that included specific experience in the following:
o Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, or Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and other Microsoft development tools required.
o Strong knowledge of communications protocols, O.O. programming techniques and multi-threaded applications.
o Exposure to all sub-processes of SDLC model
o Developing N-Tier applications using Microsoft .NET platforms.
o VB6, COM/COM Interop, C# on .Net 2.0/3.5, XML.
o ASP.Net, AJAX tool kits, exposure to Silverlight
o .NET Web Services, WSE3.0 and .NET Remoting in a multi-threaded environment
o MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, Performance Tuning and Reporting Tools
o Knowledge of HL7 message protocols and transformation.
o Use of source control and defect tracking systems in a medium to large environment
o Exposure to TAPI or Intel Dialogic telephony APIs or MCP 70-536 would be a plus.
2. Experience in Healthcare industry, Healthcare technology or Facilities-Management industry and or workflow automation techniques a plus.
