UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Ala. is a 1,157-bed academic medical center that manages 50,000 annual admissions, 130 surgeries a day across 57 OR suites, as well as 300 ED visits each day.  Brittany Lindsey, UAB Medicine’s Director of Patient Flow, joins us on this episode of Patient Flow Podcast to discuss how UAB developed a strategic patient flow plan and centralized patient placement center to address their capacity challenges.

Brittany Lindsey is the Director of Patient Throughput for UAB Hospital with responsibility for the strategic planning and operations of UAB’s Center for Patient Flow, a department handling all movement into, within, and out of UAB Medicine. Brittany began her career in 2011 as Operations Manager for Emergency Services. Brittany is a healthcare leader with a passion for excellence in patient centered care, focused on high quality evidence based initiatives leading complex organizations to effective and efficient operational success in an ever-changing healthcare environment.  Brittany has a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University, a Masters of Public Administration from Auburn, along with a Healthcare Management and Emergency Management certification. Brittany is also certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt for healthcare process improvement.
