TeleCon17 | Day Three Recap

Workshop Whiteboarding

The final day of TeleCon17 was dedicated to showcasing customer success stories. Sessions were held in casual, roundtable formats that facilitated engagement and great conversations between the presenters and attendees. Session presenters and topics included:

  • BayCare Health System: Centralizing Patient Transport, Fine Tuning Dispatch Logic and Sharing Best Practices across an Enterprise
  • NYU Winthrop: Demonstrating Compliance w/ Joint Commission’s Patient Flow Standard utilizing TeleTracking Data
  • Palmetto Health: Interdisciplinary Patient Centered Care Rounding and Optimization through TeleTracking Advisory Services
  • Providence Regional Medical Center Everett: President’s Award for Strategic Innovation – The Services Operations Center
  • John Health System: Utilizing LTACs to Reduce Average Length of Stay
  • University Hospitals: Journey with Advisory Services around Strategic Planning, Discharge Readiness and Precision Patient Placement
  • UPMC: Managing Data throughout an Enterprise
  • Sharp HealthCare: Centralizing Patient Placement
  • McLeod Health: Redefining the Discharge Process
  • Oklahoma University Med. Ctr. & UCHealth: Launching a Transfer Center
  • Providence Regional Medical Center: Building an Operational Command Center
  • Sarasota Memorial Hospital: Extending into Procedural & Diagnostic Areas
  • University of Alabama Medicine: Using Data to Enhance Patient Flow & Drive Change
  • Stamford Health: Enabling Technologies to Automate Workflow Processes

The Live Command Center continued to be popular, featuring four scenarios―a patient with a pre-scheduled procedure and a planned post-acute placement; a pediatric patient visiting a clinic admitted for a 23-hour observation stay; a patient diagnosed with a STEMI in the ED of a community hospital that requires transfer to a tertiary care facility; and a call from County 911 Emergency Services Center of a mass-casualty bus crash and the arrival of 50 patients.

In addition, the Innovation Lab was again available to give customers the opportunity to share information with TeleTracking patient flow experts. And Technical Support was for the final day to answer questions.

Kris Kaneta delivered closing remarks and asked the crowd to share what they learned this week and are going to bring back.

  • “Appreciated the workshop around how to standardize processes across an enterprise.”
  • “We have a lot of tools in place and realize we haven’t optimized them. I learned about better discharge planning and that is something we will be working on upon my return.”
  • “Looking at redundancy in our system and the emergency management components in TeleTracking.”
  • “We still struggle with 11AM discharges. I liked seeing the dashboard that requires physicians to have more ownership.”

Seriously though, the main takeaway is this is a journey … there is no big bang. Some lucky attendees went home with more than knowledge―they went home with prizes – bluetooth speakers and free trips to TeleCon18, October 14-17, 2018 at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas!

Go out and make sure no patient waits for the care they need!
