TeleTracking & The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Join Hands to Improve Quality of Care and Patient Experience

TeleTracking UK is delighted to share its latest shortlisting in the HSJ Partnership Awards 2020, in collaboration with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.

This pioneering initiative has led to the Trust serving as a national reference site for sharing best practices and demonstrating outcomes achieved from implementing TeleTracking’s operational platform and centralised care coordination model.

The HSJ Partnership Awards celebrate the most effective partnerships with the NHS and highlight the benefits which working with the private and third sectors can bring to patients and NHS organisations. TeleTracking and Royal Wolverhampton have been shortlisted in the ‘HealthTech Partnership of the Year’ category, for the Trust’s ‘Safe Hands’ programme.

Initiated in 2015 as a hand hygiene monitoring project to monitor all staff-patient-asset interactions for internal infection prevention and tracing and care hours per day, ‘Safe Hand’s has evolved to now encompass TeleTracking's hospital coordination centre and IQ operations platform. Acting as the ‘Care Traffic ControlTM’ centre of the Trust, staff now have real-time visibility of all beds, patients, staff and equipment across the organisation. The technology also automates workflows and provides contextual communication to support end-to-end operational improvement and sustainability.

Combined with Real Time Locating System technology (RTLS), the Centre is now responsible for coordinating all patient placement within the Trust. Today, 4,000 employees, all inpatients and over 1,500 assets at Wolverhampton’s New Cross Hospital are equipped with RTLS sensor badges, making this the world’s largest deployment of RTLS technology in a healthcare setting.

Gwen Nuttall, Chief Operating Officer, states:

"TeleTracking has a great impact on not just quality of patient care, but efficiency. With better patient flow in the system and less delays, we have a more efficient service, and more efficiency means better use of money. We link it closely to the length of stay and how we can reduce this, and knowing when patients are ready for discharge, which also delivers efficiency."

The winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2020 will be announced on Thursday 27th Feb 2020.
